Escalante shooting suspect at large

BACOLOD City – Police were still identifying the suspect in fatally shooting a man in Barangay Libertad, Escalante City, Negros Occidental.

Chief Inspector Rollie Pondevilla, officer-in-charge of the Escalante City police station, identified the man as the 35-year-old Edmund Guanson of Barangay Paitan, Escalante City.

Guanson sustained gunshot wounds on the different parts of the body after being shot around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, a police report showed.

He died on the spot, according to the police.

It was village councilman Jerry Siarot who alerted the police about the shooting.

Senior Inspector Larry Teovisio of the Escalante City police station and his men responded to the area together with elements from the Negros Occidental Police Mobile Force Company but the suspect already fled.

Recovered from the crime scene were two empty shells of a .9mm pistol.

Police have yet to determine the motive in the shooting./PN
