KALIBO, Aklan – Two men were caught in possession of illegal drugs in Aklan on Saturday.

The 29-year-old Jerry Dula and Ronel Andres, 24, were arrested in Malay and Altavas towns, respectively.

Dula, a native of Samar province, sold to a poseur buyer a sachet of shabu for P2,000 at around 9:40 a.m. in Barangay Motag, Malay, police said.

Operatives confiscated from the suspect two more sachets of shabu, a mobile phone and a brown wallet.

Chief Inspector Frensy Andrade of the Aklan Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit said they placed the suspect under surveillance for weeks prior to the operation.

The PDEU staged the buy-bust in coordination with the Malay police station, Andrade added.

In Altavas, the motorcycle-riding Andres – a cook from Boracay Island – was arrested at a checkpoint.

Police flagged down the resident of Barangay Igang, Jamindan, Capiz along the highway in Barangay Lupo, Altavas.

Andres was about to present his driver’s license and his vehicle’s registration papers when he dropped a sachet of shabu, police said.

Dula and Andres face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
