OF the eight competing divisions, the Division of Sagay City represented by Kennette A. Luague, Grade 10 student of Sagay National High School, bested all others in the recently held PhilHealth nationwide Poster Making Contest Region 6.
These were the words of Kennette describing his winning art entitled “Buhay ay Mahalaga, Pamayanan Malusog, Masaya at Masagana” during the said contest with the theme “Ang PhilHealth sa Aking mga Mata”.
The seven other divisions who competed were Divisions of Aklan, Antique, Bacolod City, Cadiz City, Iloilo City, Iloilo Province, and San Carlos.
The nationwide poster making contest is an avenue for the students to showcase their talents in arts and express through their own eyes their gained knowledge, awareness and understanding about PhilHealth.
The artworks of the students showed how they were able to value and appreciate the role of PhilHealth in the financial risk protection of the Filipinos as they learned about it through the teaching of the PhilHealth Learners’ Material in their classrooms.
“We are truly grateful to DepEd for the support and assistance extended in promoting the teaching of PhilHealth in public schools. The posters made by the students are a reflection of their positive insight on the country’s National Health Insurance Program and its implementation” said Dr. Bernadette L. Reynes, OIC-PRO 6 adding that PhilHealth has been part of the MAPEH subject of Grade 10 students in public schools starting SY 2017-2018.
The entries were judged based on Creativity and Presentation-40 percent, Originality-30 percent, and Relevance to the theme-30 percent. The Division of Aklan bagged the 2nd Place and the Division of Iloilo City won 3rd Place.
Kennette Luague’s artwork will be showcased in the 2019 official calendar of PhilHealth which will be a display of the impact of the teaching of PhilHealth to the students in our country’s Basic Education./PN
