MANILA ā Davao Aguilas snapped its two-game slide in the 2018 Philippines Football League with a 4-2 victory over JPV Marikina on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
Phil Younghusband spearheaded the attack with two goals while Kim Sung Min and Harry Sawyer added a conversion each for Aguilas, which moved up to second place in the standings with 14 points on four wins, two draws and two losses.
After misfiring in its early attempts, Aguilas entered the scoring column in the 29th minute with Kim scoring a sneaky header. JPV had a chance to tie the scores but its free kick just before halftime break was foiled.
In the second half, Aguilas took advantage of the decimated JPV after Boyet Canedoās ejection with Younghusband hitting his first goal of the match after receiving a cross and burying the ensuing strike toward the back of the net.
But JPV was quick to pull one back as Kennedy Uzoka attacked the defense of Aguilasā Nicholas OāDonnell for a close-range hit. Aguilas answered with Sawyer tapping a cross by teammate Tyler Matas.
JPV made its last run, trimming the deficit 2-3 on a penalty by Kozawa Ryuki but Aguilas put the match away for good minutes later as Younghusband converted his second goal.
It was the sixth consecutive defeat of JPV after starting the season with 2-0-0 win-loss-draw card. It is currently on fourth place with 6 points./PN
