No election violence in NegOcc – Nocppo

BACOLOD City – There were no election-related violence in the province as of 2 p.m. yesterday, an hour before the casting of votes for the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections  ended, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) reported.

There was, however, a reported incident of vote buying in Barangay Robles, La Castellana on Sunday.

La Castellana police were still investigating the case.

Nocppo also clarified that the barricade placed in Cauayan town was not an election-related incident, citing statement from the Commission on Elections municipal office.

The election day was “generally peaceful,” according to Nocppo, emphasizing that there was a 100-percent deployment of police personnel throughout the province.

Quick reaction teams were on standby to respond to alerts.Checkpoints in strategic areas were also established.

These measures were aimed at making the election day “safe, secured, peaceful, and honest.”/PN
