BACOLOD City – City Election Officer Mavil Sia said she will welcome charges filed against her by individuals whose names were not included in the voters’ list in relation to the synchronized barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections yesterday.
“Kon may nakita kamo nga may sala ang Comelec (Commission on Elections), kasuhan niyo ko kay nadula ngalan niyo,” Sia said.
Several individuals in Bacolod complained that their names were missing in the voters’ list.
“Ara lang na dira ila ngalan. Pangitaon nila sa kada precincts,” said Sia, assuring that the names of those who have voted in the last two elections are in the list.
Some complainants were advised to go to the Comelec office to get their polling precinct numbers instead.
The missing names were among the problems that the Comelec faced on election day.
Sia turned down a complaint against a poll watcher who is related to a candidate in one of the 61 villages in the city.
Sia said a candidate preferring a relative to be his/her poll watcher does not violate election rules.
What the Comelec rules prohibit is being a member of the Board of Election Inspectors while your spouse or relative (up to the fourth civil degree of consanguinity) isa candidate, Sia added.
On the other hand, Chief Inspector Benedicto Villarias of the Bacolod City Police Office clarified that there were no reported incidents of vote buying in Barangay 4 after earlier reports said there were./PN
