THREE Negrenses will play alongside Philippine Superliga players during the PSL All Stars later this week at the Natalio G. Velez Sports and Cultural Center in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Marite Espina of Cadiz City and Bacolod City natives Alexa Polidario and Erjane Magdato were chosen to take part in the two-day exhibition event on May 18 (4 p.m.) and May 19 (5 p.m.).

Espina was one of the key players of Living Stones International School and is set to move to De La Salle University Lady Spikers later this year, while Polidario and Magdato were teammates at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos.

“These three excellent local volleyball players will be playing with the PSL stars in the All Stars event,” said events head Carmela Gamboa. “We will try to add another local player the soonest.”

Suiting up for the event are F2 Logistics Cargo Movers’ Kim Fajardo, Mary Joy Baron, Cha Cruz-Behag, Ara Galang, and Aby Maraño, and Cocolife Asset Managers’ Rubie de Leon, Denise Lazaro and Aeriel Patnongon.

Also in the roster are Petron Blaze Spikers’ Mika Reyes, Rhea Dimaculangan, Frances Molina, and Mary Remy Palma, Foton Tornadoes’ Maika Ortiz, and Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors’ Michelle Laborte.

Other players are Generika Ayala Lifesavers’ Mika Lopez and Carol Cerveza, Smart Giga Hitters’ Rhoselle Urizza and Maureen Penetrante, and Cignal HD Spikers’ Angelique Dionela.

This is the second time the PSL is holding an event in Western Visayas after the triple-header in the 2017 PSL Grand Prix late last year at the University of St. La Salle – Bacolod.

The All-Star game in Silay City is one of the many out-of-town gigs of the PSL during offseason. Similar events are being arranged in some areas in Laguna, Pangasinan, Bataan, Rizal, and Baguio./PN
