5 arrested for illegally entering Boracay

ILOILO City – Five persons including a South Korean national were arrested for violation of the rules and regulations relative to the six-month temporary closure of Boracay Island.

They specifically violated Provincial Ordinance No. 05-32 imposing the “one entry, one exit policy” on the island and Presidential Proclamation 475 that bars tourists from  entering the island while it is undergoing rehabilitation.

The arrested were Kooktae Kong, a 37-year-old male Korean national; Jomer Gadores, Albert Cacino, Erick Villa, and Jerry Samindao, all residents of Romblon province and Boracay Island.

The five were intercepted while on board a motorboat in Sitio Tambisaan, Barangay Manocmanoc, Boracay around 4:30 p.m. on May 8.

The Metro Boracay Police Task Force Inner Border Control personnel, namely Police Officer 1 Anthony Cabrera and Police Officer 1 Ryan Florez intercepted the five while on board the motorboat that was about to dock on the shores of Sitio Tambisaan.

The Cagban jetty port is the sole entry and exit point of Boracay Island while undergoing rehabilitation. It is located in Barangay Manocmanoc, too, but further down south of Sitio Tambisaan.

The sea craft was turned over to Philippine Coast Guard while the Korean national was taken into custody by the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation./PN
