ILOILO City – A group of “eight to 10” men attacked a resident of San Lorenzo, Guimaras on Ledesma Street, a police report showed.
The 44-year-old Onas Gallego told the police he was with two friends during the incident at around 1 a.m. on Sunday.
Gallego, a stay-in worker at Gascon Pipe Bending, said the men were binge drinking when they passed by.
He raised his hand as a gesture of acknowledgment but the men may have misread it and ran after them, the police report stated.
Gallego said the men caught up with him on corner Fuentes-Ledesma streets and beat him up while his friends escaped.
He sustained wounds on the head and mouth and bruises on the eyes. He also complained of body pains.
Gallego was taken to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro district./PN
