Bacolod cops net 254 drug suspects in 5 mos.

BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has arrested 254 illegal drugs personalities in the past five months.

This is the highest record of arrests from Dec. 5, 2017 to May 14, 2018 among all provincial and city police offices in Western Visayas, the BCPO said.

The data released on Tuesday showed that of the 254 arrested drug suspects, 50 were in the BCPO watch list – either as a high-value or a street-level target.

The other 204, on the other hand, were newly-identified drug personalities, the BCPO added.

BCPO head Senior Superintendent Francisco Ebreo attributed such accomplishment to their intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Ebreo also gave credits to the cooperation and support of city and barangays officials in Bacolod as well as other local stakeholders.

In April alone, police seized a total of 270.66 grams of shabu worth some P4.06 million in Bacolod, arresting 27 persons in 16 anti-drug operations .

A total of 23 drug cases were filed in the same month, the BCPO said.

On Feb. 28, high-value drug target Ginna Mariga and brother Israel Mariga were caught in Barangay 28. When frisked, they yielded shabu worth about P600,000.

Before that, shabu worth P1.2 million was recovered at the Greensville 2 Subdivision, Barangay Villamonte on Feb. 13.

A day prior to that, shabu valued at atound P150,000 was also seized in a buy-bust operation along 6th-Lacson streets.

On Feb. 9, the BCPO drug unit arrested a suspected members of the notorious Berya drug group in Barangay Vista Alegre, confiscating shabu worth some P225,000.

In Barangay Mandalagan on Feb. 2, police also arrested two suspected members of different drug groups, recovering from them shabu valued at P300,000. (With a report from PNA/PN)
