BACOLOD City – A police officer on patrol shot a minor on Lacson Street, Barangay Mandalagan.

The Negros Occidental police’s Internal Affairs Service will investigate the conduct of Police Officer 3 Jully Gabaran, according to the Bacolod City Police Office’s Public Information Office.

Gabaran was disarmed and placed in the custody of Police Station 3.

According to Gabaran, he got suspicious of three boys and a girl who were running toward him while he was on patrol at 2:50 a.m. on Thursday.

Gabaran said he told them to stop but one of the boys acted like he was pulling out a weapon from his waist.

Sensing danger, he fired his 9mm Glock 17 service gun, the police officer said.

The 16-year-old boy from Barangay Bata was hit once on the leg while his companions ran away.

Gabaran informed Police Station 3 – his station – and called an ambulance.
