ILOILO City – The Dumangas, Iloilo campus of the Iloilo City-based Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) was robbed. The cashier’s office lost P470,000 cash.
The robbery was discovered on Wednesday by Baltazar Depaloma, 42, assistant administrative officer who reported to work around 8:30 a.m.
ISAT-U’s Dumangas campus is located in Barangay PD Monfort.
Police believed the robbery was carried out on Tuesday night or before dawn on Wednesday.
According to Depaloma, the cashier’s office’s padlock was destroyed.
The stolen money was kept in a vault. According to Senior Police Officer 1 Ken John Banzon, Dumangas police investigator, the money was intended for the teachers’ bonuses.
School security guard Osmundo Deramos who was on duty on Tuesday night said he did not see any intruder. However, a security camera recorded two persons – one was wearing a hooded jacket and a pair of trousers and the other wearing a pair of short pants with backpack – inside the campus.
“The suspects apparently knew there was money at the cashier’s office and targeted that only. They showed no interest in the laptops,” said Banzon.
Teachers would be asked to review the security camera recording. They might recognize the two persons, said Banzon./PN
