Boyfriend ‘mocked,’ altercation ensues

ILOILO City – A chat message led to an altercation between a girl’s boyfriend and ex-boyfriend, a police report showed.

Joan Kenneth Jambre, 20, of Pag-ibig Village, Barangay Buhang, Jaro district accused Rafael Segovia of mocking him.

Ano na migo mo man? Daw tatay (Your current boyfriend looks like a dad),” Jambre quoted Segovia as saying in a chat message to his girlfriend at around 10:03 p.m. on May 25.

The police report did not name the girlfriend.

Jambre claimed that he and his girlfriend were already about to sleep in Barangay Cuartero, Jaro – where the girlfriend lived – when they got the message.

It turned out Segovia and two others – John Paul Casipe, 19, and Ricky Segovia – were outside the girl’s house at the time. The girl told Jambre that Rafael Segovia wanted him to come out.

When Jambre and his girlfriend went outside, Rafael Segovia and company approached him and said, “Ano ka gid haw? Pangayaw ka lang di (What’s your deal? You’re not from here).”

The police report stated that the Segovias were minors but did not indicate their ages.

John Paul Casipe had his own version of the event.

He told the Jaro police that he and the Segovias were walking in Barangay Cuartero, Jaro at around 9:30 p.m. on May 25 when they chanced upon Jambre. A heated argument then ensued between Jambre and Rafael Segovia.

Jambre got irked, pulled out a bladed weapon tucked in his waist and said, “Waay ako mahadlukan sa inyo bisan pangayaw lang ako (I may not be from here but I’m not afraid of you),” Casipe claimed.

He and the Segovias ran away to avoid worse trouble but Jambre chased them, Casipe further claimed.

The Segovias cannot be reached for comment as of this writing. (Mariane Camell Braseliño, Intern/PN)
