ILOILO – District hospitals of the provincial government are upgrading their sewage treatment plants.

The plants must meet the standards of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, said Provincial Administrator Raul Banias.

A total of P63 million would be used for the upgrading – P45 million from the Department of Health (DOH) and P18 million from the provincial government.

The province has 12 district hospitals. These are the following:

* Aleosan District Hospital in Barangay Bancal, Alimodian

* Barotac Viejo District Hospital in Barangay San Lucas, Barotac Viejo

* Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Dalid, Calinog

* Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital on Alfelor Street, Passi City

* Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Poblacion, Ilawod, Lambunao

* Ramon D. Duremdes District Hospital in Barangay Ilaya 1st, Dumangas

* Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Jibolo, Janiuay

* Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Barangay Rumbang, Pototan

* Jesus M. Colmenares Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Tingui-an, Balasan

* Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital in Barangay Pungtod, Cabatuan

* Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial District Hospital on Garriel Street, Guimbal

* Sara District Hospital in Barangay Anoring, Sara

The upgrading may start two to three months from now, said Banias.

“Para matapos sa middle or first quarter of next year. An upgraded sewage system is one of the requirements to secure a license to operate from the DOH,” he said.

The Provincial Engineer’s Office would determine the budget for each hospital; the amount would depend on the size of the hospital, said Banias.

“Indi lang septic tank ang obrahon kundi i-treat gid ang mga higku,” he stressed./PN
