‘Kagawad,’ friend rap drunken Arevalo man

ILOILO City – A barangay kagawad and a 36-year-old resident of Barangay Calaparan, Arevalo district reported a drunken man to the police.

They said Juning Abacajin of the same village attacked them.

His friend Patricio Babiera said he was clueless why Abacajin would assault him.

They were binge-drinking at around 11:35 p.m. on June 1 at the gym in Barangay Santo Niño Norte, Arevalo when Abacajin punched him on the left face and struck him with a bottle on the back of the head, Babiera said.

Abacajin fled after the incident, a police report showed.

Police advised Babiera to seek medical attention and refer the incident to the barangay lupon.

On the other hand, Kagawad Rodrigo Montaño, 36, also complained that Abacajin threw a punch at him at around 11:15 p.m. on the same day at the same gym, but he managed to dodge the attack.

Montaño said he was clueless as well on why Abacajin would want to hurt him when he was just sitting at the gym.

Abacajin cannot be reached for comment as of this writing.

After reporting to the police, Montaño referred the incident to the barangay lupon. (Christine Lorraine Gallo, Intern/PN)
