CERES Negros aims to tighten its hold of the top spot in the 2018 Philippines Football League when it faces Davao Aguilas tonight at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.

Admission to the 7 p.m. match is free.

The Busmen – the defending champions – hope to improve its 8-1-1 win-loss-draw slate (25 points) while Aguilas, currently with a 4-5-2 record on 14 points, aims to end its three-game skid.

Ceres and Aguilas will be meeting for the third time.

The Negros team blanked Aguilas 2-0 during their first meeting at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on May 2 and again rendered the Davao squad scoreless 3-0 in Bacolod City on May 23.

“Davao is a dangerous team,” said Ceres assistant coach Ian Treyes. “During our last meeting, we had a hard time against them. Good thing we were able to make the necessary adjustments.”

Bienvenido Marañon, Stephan Schrock, Jeffrey Christiaens, Mike Ott, Manuel Herrera, Carlos de Murga, Martin Steuble, Kevin Ingreso, Sean Kane, Takumi Uesato, and Toni Doblas are expected to lead Ceres.

Philippine Azkals mainstay Manuel Ott, meanwhile, is out for the match after sustaining an injury during their 1-1 draw with JP V Marikina on Saturday night in Biñan, Laguna.

Aguilas will have a stacked lineup led by Phil and James Younghusband, Matthew Hartmann, Simone Rota, Nicholas O’Donnell, Nate Burkey, Dennis Villanueva and Harry Sawyer./PN
