MANILA – For the second time, Alaska Aces forward Vic Manuel secured the Player of the Week honors in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

This was after he put up a career-best effort against Magnolia Hotshots on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The “Muscle Man” scored a career-high 35 points – 17 of which came in the final quarter – as Aces came away with a pulsating 103-99 win to clinch a playoff spot in the Commissioner’s Cup.

Manuel, now averaging almost 25 points per contest, elevated his game in the absence of Calvin Abueva, who had been suspended, and Jeron Teng, who was still recovering from stab wounds.

The win against Magnolia was Alaska’s sixth straight since dropping its opening game against Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

Manuel, 30, earned the Player of the Week award over San Miguel’s June Mar Fajardo and Alex Cabagnot, Meralco’s KG Canaleta, Rain or Shine’s Chris Tiu and Raymond Almazan, and Ginebra big men Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar.

Alaska returns to action on Friday when it faces NLEX Road Warriors at the Mall of Asia Arena. (ABS-CBN Sports)
