ILOILO City – Mayor Jose Espinosa III said he will issue an executive order requiring the Department of Public Works and Highways to create a drainage plan before starting any roadwork.
Unfinished roadwork cause floods on streets because drainages do not have proper outfall, said the mayor.
“I will issue an executive order that will not allow any road construction without a corresponding drainage plan,” Espinosa said.
Moreover the mayor said he noticed that unfinished road construction works also cause traffic, especially in La Paz district.
There was no proper drainage system in front of the Mandurriao public cemetery, Espinosa added.
The mayor said he will ask City District Engineer Rodney Gustilo to enlighten him about road construction projects in the city. (Merianne Grace Ereñeta, Iloilo City PIO/PN)
