BACOLOD City – The city needs more fire trucks, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
There are currently 26 fire trucks in Bacolod. The BFP wants to add four more to satisfy the 1-fire-truck-is-to-20,000-people ratio in the city.
BFP-Bacolod fire marshal Chief Inspector Publio Ploteña said they now have 12 fire trucks, but five of these are due for repair in the first week of July.
The Bacolod Chamber Volunteer Fire Brigade has nine fire trucks while the Amity Volunteer Fire Brigade has five.
Yesterday, Ploteña presented at the Bacolod City Government Center a new fire truck worth P17.5 million they got from the BFP national headquarters.
The Austrian-made Man-Rosenbauer model fire truck has a water capacity of 4,000 liters and can reach up to the sixth floor of a building, Ploteña said.
He added that the fire truck was delivered on June 22.
The BFP has six fire substations in Bacolod. The main fire station is located along San Juan Street./PN
