ROXAS City – The tanods (village watchmen) of Barangay Banica were nominated to compete in the search for the most outstanding tanod group in Capiz.

They were chosen as this capital city’s candidate in the annual search after an evaluation last week.

Also in the evaluation were tanods from four other Roxas City villages – Lawaan, Milibili, Baybay and Cagay.

“Batangay tanods of Banica is this year’s nominee to the Provincial Search for Outstanding Barangay Tanod Group city category,” City Local Government Operations Officer Jose Aurelio Roldan’s June 27 letter addressed to Banica village chief Victor Dolor read.

The Provincial Search Committee is composed of representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government, the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Liga ng mga Barangay in Capiz, and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Assessment of skills demonstrations and feed backing will be a part of choosing the provincial search’s winner.

The competition aims to support the professionalization of barangay tanods and recognize their efforts in maintaining peace and order in their villages./PN
