ILOILO City – The election for new officers of the Liga ng nga Barangay (LnB) is on July 30.
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Memorandum Circular No. 2018-90 sets the guidelines.
According to DILG-Iloilo City head Atty. Ferdinand Panes, the election is synchronized in all provinces, highly-urbanized cities and independent component cities.
For component cities and municipalities, the election is on July 16.
In this city, two barangay captains have expressed interest to run for Liga president – Barangay Captain Pascual Espinosa IV of San Juan, Molo district and Irene Ong of President Roxas, City Proper.
According to Panes, prior the election, there are preparatory activities such as formation of various committees and boards on July 16, and formation and designation of the members of committees and boards on July 23 to be spearheaded by the incumbent LnB chapter president, and receiving of certificates of candidacies on July 24 to July 26 and certification of the qualifications of the candidates on July 27 by the nominations committee.
The conduct of the LnB election is govern by the LnB Constitution and By-Laws (CBL) and Election Code.
“The only participation of the City DILG is to assist in the preparation and to be a member of Board of Election Supervisors,” said Panes./PN
