SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique – The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) opened its first Knowledge Resource Network (KRN), in partnership with the University of Antique (UA) last week.
Doreen Santerva, BSP Iloilo Branch officer-in-charge who signed a memorandum of understanding with UA officials, said that the establishment of the KRN at the university’s main campus in Sibalom town is aimed at having more informed and empowered Antiqueño students with the provision of the books, brochures, fliers and other reading materials about the economy and financial.
“You need not travel to BSP Iloilo for your needed information anymore so you could save time and resources,” she said.
Likewise, BSP Bank Officer II Lowen Andrew June Ligad said that the BSP will set up an online connection for UA with the BSP’s Economic and Financial Learning Center so that students and even teachers could request information and be able to receive a feedback on the same day.
UA College of Business and Accountancy dean Catherine C. Viesca said they are grateful that the BSP has set up the KRN, which would really be helpful to their students.
“We really do have a lesson about the BSP and having a KRN would really aid in the learning of students,” she said.
Likewise, UA college librarian III Armila A. Serrato said that the KRN is another product of their linkage with the BSP, which could be an added factor in their accreditation as a state university.
The BSP targets to establish at least three KRN’s in the province. The other KRNs will be established at the St. Anthony’s College in San Jose de Buenavista next month and in the municipality of Bugasong. (PNA)
