SAN JOSE, Antique – Members of the Alyansang kabarangay laban sa Krimen (AK47) vowed to help in maintaining peace and order in Antique.

The volunteer group said it will provide police officers with relevant information it will gather from barangays in the province.

“Through the information gathered by the AK47, we were able to provide the police with vital information that led to their successful operations,” said Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Pio Jessielito Sumande.

Sumande, a member of the Provincial Peace and Order Council, is the founder of AK47, which started in Hamtic town in 2006.

He said the Provincial Peace and Order Council now acknowledges the contributions of AK47.

Gov. Rhodora Cadiao has expressed support for the anticrime group as she led the oath-taking of its new members at the ANIAD Building on Monday.

Cadiao said AK47 members, as information gatherers, “will be the eyes and ears of the province in the barangays.” (With a report from PNA/PN)
