BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on tourism has finalized the schedule for the MICE (Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conventions and Exhibitions) Conference (MICECON) in this capital city.
The conference will now be from Nov. 27 to 29, a month behind the event’s original schedule.
Committee chairwoman Councilor Em Ang said MICECON was rescheduled due to the controversies in the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB).
TPB chief operating officer Cesar Montano in April tasked the city government to host the 2018 MICECON.
But in June, Montano resigned at the TPB amid the misuse of funds and mismanagement allegations hurled against him.
Tourism secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat is now leading the investigation into the issue.
“Approximately 600 participants from the MICE industry are expected to attend the event,” said Ang.
She added that the event will “help boost and promote tourism in Bacolod and Negros Occidental.”/PN
