“FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” the Philippines’ overall number one TV show, is far from its conclusion, contrary to a circulating rumor, ABS-CBN clarified.
In a statement, the media giant pointed out that the Coco Martin-starrer, which is approaching its third year on air in September, remains a massive audience draw.
It said: “There is no truth to the rumor that ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ is scheduled to end soon. Coco Martin and the show’s writers are enjoying the process of coming up with creative ideas to make the story more compelling, as well as collaborating with the cast and the production team.
“‘FPJAP’ continues to enjoy high viewership every night, and our Kapamilyas can expect new twists and characters as it goes into its third year.”
Produced by Dreamscape Entertainment Television, “Ang Probinsyano” has consistently topped nationwide ratings since its debut, and has shown no signs of waning viewership.
For instance, it clung on to the number one spot in Kantar Media’s list of most watched TV programs in June, having averaged 42.6 percent in ratings across urban and rural territories.
ABS-CBN’s statement came in the wake of a report claiming “Ang Probinsyano” is wrapping up, to give way to the teleserye comeback of Judy Ann Santos via “Starla.”
An earlier rumor alleged that Angel Locsin’s “The General’s Daughter” would replace “Ang Probinsyano,” but that, too, has not been confirmed. (ABS-CBN News)
