KALIBO, Aklan – A man arrested in a drug buy-bust operation denied involvement in the drug trade.
“Malinis ang konsensiya ko na hindi ako involved sa drugs,” said the 35-year-old Jeffry “Pikoy” Iglecias of Barangay Poblacion, Banga, Aklan.
Iglecias, a drug surrenderee, added that he had stopped using illegal drugs since 2014.
Iglecias was caught in a sting operation that officers from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Banga municipal police station staged at around 5:30 a.m. on Saturday in Barangay Tabayon, a police report showed.
Recovered from him was a sachet of suspected shabu that police said he sold to a poseur-buyer for P4,000.
When frisked, Iglecias yielded a lighter, P206 cash and a cellphone. No marked money was recovered from him.
Iglecias was detained at the Banga police station lockup facility and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
