‘More warning signs on Bacolod roads under repair’

BACOLOD City – Contractors were ordered to put additional warning signs in areas where there are ongoing road projects.

The order from the Department of Public Works and Highways came after a car fell in an excavation on the 19th Lacson Street around 12:15 a.m. on Monday.

A flood control system worth P55 billion is being installed in the area, said City District Engineer Abraham Villareal.

The driver of the Honda CRV car who the police identified as Mario Ditching of Talisay City, Negros Occidental was allegedly drunk.

Aside from the flood control project, road rehabilitation projects are also being conducted in barangays Alijis and Mansilingan.

Villareal said additional warning signs must also be placed in these areas.

The city council has recently passed a resolution urging the City Engineer’s Office to put standard warning signs on roads under repair in Bacolod.

Resolution proponent Councilor Em Ang said with lack of “visible” warning signs, the excavations in the roads pose danger to motorists and pedestrians./PN
