Murder suspects caught in Binalbagan, Sagay

BACOLOD City – Two murder suspects were arrested in Sagay City and Binalbagan town in Negros Occidental.

Police caught Edwin Caberte Matarong, 38, in his house in Barangay Maquiling, Sagay City at around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.

On the other hand, the 48-year-old Danilo Palabrica Padilla of Barangay Bagroy, Binalbagan was nabbed in Barangay Biao in the town Tuesday.

Sagay City police officers served Matarong a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Renato Muñez (retired) of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 60 in Cadiz City on Aug. 18, 2014 yet.

Officers in Binalbagan caught Padilla upon his return from Metro Manila where he hid for 20 years, police said.

Padilla was served with an arrest warrant issued by Judge Jose Y Aguirre Jr. (retired) of the RTC Branch 55 in Himamaylan City on March 15, 1999.

The courts did not set bail bonds for the suspects’ temporary liberty.

Matarong was detained at the Sagay City police station and Padilla, at the Binalbagan police station./PN
