MANILA – Che’Lu Bar and Grill Revellers got back on the winning track in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup by defeating AMA Online Education Titans, 139-101, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Jeff Viernes led the way with 35 points. Levi Hernandez added 22 markers while Ilonggo Chris Bitoon and Jason Melano contributed 12 points each.
With the win, the Revellers grabbed the solo first place in the standings with a 6-2 record.
Holding to a slim 29-20 advantage at the end of first quarter, the Revellers broke the game wide open in the second canto behind Viernes and Melano for a 60-42 lead at the half.
In the second half, it was the turn of Hernandez to fire away. He unloaded 17 of his total points to widen the Revellers’ lead to its largest at 136-96 on a conversion by Dawn Ochea.
“Not discounting our opponent but ‘yung mga games na ito ang pwede namin i-test ‘yung ibang players para pagdating sa playoffs, handa sila,” said Revellers head coach Stevenson Tiu.
Andre Paras finished with double-double 16 points and 12 rebounds,while John Carlo Garcia and Ken Soriano both notched 15 markers each for the Titans.
The Titans remained winless in eight games.
In the first game, Centro Escolar University Scorpions fortified its chances of moving on to the semifinals round after stopping Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, 84-75.
Orlan Wamar led the Scorpions with 17 points, eight assists, and six rebounds as they stinged the Generals to move up to joint third place with Marinerong Pilipino-TIP with 4-3 records./PN
