AFTER the official launch of the upcoming action film “Kontradiksyon,” Kris Bernal said she is still in disbelief after being handpicked for the role which she hopes can finally earn her an acting award.
“I didn’t audition. Actually hindi ko talaga alam. Kahit ako parang inisip ko, ‘Bakit ako?’ Hanggang ngayon tinatanong ko yung sarili ko. Siguro sila makakasagot nun pero thankful talaga ako sa opportunity kasi lalaban siya internationally and this could be a big chance for me to bag awards or whatever. And for so long in the industry, for 11 years in the industry I guess sana ito yung magbibigay sa akin ng award na yun,” she shared.
The petite actress dispelled talks that their project is a pro-administration film. “Well kasi I’m not the type of person na may pinapanigan. Kumbaga sabi ko nga dapat intindihin natin yung situation ng isang tao, yung side ng isang tao. Pero I’m not saying that I’m pro, I’m not saying that I’m against but we don’t know the story behind every news eh. Hindi naman natin alam kung anong nasa likod niyan, kung ano lang yung pinapalabas nila on TV at kung ano yung tinatago nila. Binigyan naman nila ako ng background story and sinabihan nila ako about what’s happening now, ganito yung issue na ito, ganito kabigat ito. So well-informed naman ako about the issue. Pero hindi naman ako tinanong kung pro-Duterte ako,” she explained.
Playing the role of a mother caught in a precarious situation because of drugs, Kris said audiences will see a very different side of her that she has never shown before.
“Hindi ko alam kung handa ang tao kasi dito talaga intense not just yung mga eksena na involved sa drugs but yung mga love scenes, mga sexy scenes. Kasi minsan naka-lingerie lang ako, tumatakbo ako naka-bra and panty lang. So dyosko lord hindi ko alam kung paano tatanggapin ng tao for that, alam mo yun? Pero I guess it’s something that would excite people din eh, they would look forward to seeing if I can pull off a character na angas and bad. Hindi ko naman ito tatanggapin kung hindi ako na-cha-challenge. Of course I am still after na makilala din ako as a versatile actress. I’m still after that,” she said.
Kris also admitted she has yet to shoot her first love scene with co-star Jake Cuenca whom she is also working with for the very first time.
“Kinakabahan na nga ako eh. Feel ko ma-sa-star struck ako. Though friends naman kami ni Jake pero kasi alam ko kung gaano kagaling si Jake as an actor. Alam ko kung gaano siya ka-serious sa craft niya so medyo kinakabahan ako kasi sana one take lang. Kasi ako may tendency ako na mag-buckle ako pag na-i-intimidate ako, may intimidate factor ako pag bagong katrabaho,” she admitted. (Push)
