34 new pickups for WV cops

ILOILO City – Thirty-four police stations and units in Western Visayas were set to receive brand-new patrol vehicles this week.

The distribution of Toyota 4×4 Hilux pickups is part of the Capability Enhancement Program of the Philippine National Police.

The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) received 15 similar vehicles under the same program just this March 12.

“The higher command and the government are very supportive of the local units. We are thankful,” said PRO-6 director Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao.

Of the 34 new vehicles, two will go to the Guimaras Police Provincial Office. Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office will get 15; Bacolod City Police Office, 11; and Iloilo Police Provincial Office, six.

Police in Western Visayas are now expected to respond to crimes faster and run after and catch criminals quicker, Bulalacao said.

“We expect the police to work harder,” he stressed. “The government is doing everything to provide whatever we need to serve and protect the community better.”/PN
