MANILA – Senators resumes working on its priority legislations as the third regular session of the 17th Congress starts Monday.
They will hold a caucus Tuesday – a day after President Rodrigo Duterte delivers his third State of the Nation Address – to determine their “common priority legislative agenda,” said Senate President Vicente Sotto III.
The Senate president said he asked each senator to submit a list of priority bills for consideration of the entire Upper House.
Sotto’s priority bills include the proposed “Special Protection of Children in Situations of Armed Conflict Act,” the “Prevention of Terrorism Act,” the “Medical Scholarship Act,” the “Presidential Anti-Drug Authority Act,” and the “Medical Scholarship Act of 2016.”
They will also discuss the consultative committee’s final draft of the federal constitution to “determine and gauge what the stand of the Senate would be,” he said.
The Senate enjoys the highest public approval and trust ratings among key government agencies, based on the latest Pulse Asia survey.
It has an approval rating of 69 percent and a trust rating of 61 percent, results of the June survey showed./PN
