Improvised gun seized

SAN JOSE, Antique – Police recovered an improvised shotgun while searching a house in Sitio Bakery, Barangay Igpalge, Barbaza, Antique.

The house is that of the 52-year-old Nicandro Untal, a police report showed.

Officers from the Barbaza municipal police station searched the house around 6 a.m. on Saturday on the strength of a warrant that Judge Mario Andres of the issued on June 20.

The search warrant was in relation to charges that Untal faces for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and Republic Act 9516, which codifies the laws on illegal possession, manufacture, dealing in, acquisition or disposition of firearms, ammunition or explosives or instruments used in the manufacture of firearms, ammunition or explosives.

The firearm was now under the custody of the Barbaza police.

It was not immediately clear if Untal was arrested or detained./PN
