BACOLOD City – A man accused of abusing a 12-year-old girl was arrested in Barangay Taculing, a police report showed.
The 38-year-old resident and trisikad driver Bernie Pedro was detained at the Police Station 6 lockup facility.
Pedro was caught around 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday while trying to choke the victim who he brought in a secluded area instead of a school.
The girl was able to shout asking for help from people around the area, police said.
26-year-old drowns in Bago river
BACOLOD City – Rescuers were able to retrieve a man who drowned in a river in Purok Kabatuhan, Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, Negros Occidental.
The 26-year-old resident RJ Estillo was already in the state of decomposition when he was fished out of the river around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a police report showed.
Estillo went fishing in the river with five other men on July 22, said his live-in partner Mary Joy Villanueva.
The river had swelled at the time due to heavy downpours. Due to the strong current, Estillo drowned, police said.
‘Reckless’ Bata man caught
BACOLOD City – Officers from Police Station 3 arrested a man charged with reckless imprudence resulting to serious physical injuries in Barangay Bata.
He was the 27-year-old resident Juan Carlos Atienza, a police report showed.
Atienza was caught on Tuesday, the report added. He was detained at the Police Station 3 lockup facility.
A P6,000 bail bond was recommended for his temporary liberty./PN
