BACOLOD City – Several public schools in this city have failed to secure necessary permits when they built new buildings, according to the Office of the Building Official (OBO).
OBO head Isidro Sun Jr. said they started sending notices of violation to the erring schools – both high school and elementary – early this month.
The schools did not secure a building and an occupancy permit, Sun added. They include those whose buildings were built in years 2014, 2015 and 2016.
Sun said he met with City Engineer Abraham Villareal to discuss the violation.
Villareal told him that the contractors of the school building projects were not able to apply for the permits due to its non-inclusion in the contract’s budget.
Sun said OBO does not collect permit fees for government projects, only the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).
The BFP permit is among the requirements for the building and occupancy permits, Sun explained.
Sun said the schools that already received the notices of violation have started processing the permits./PN
