ILOILO – Barangay Captain Dorothy Paes of Balabag, Dumangas town is the lone candidate for federation president of the Liga ng mga Barangay in this province.
The election is on July 30.
Paes, the municipal Liga president of Dumangas, was the only one who filed a certificate of candidacy for Liga president during the three-day period of filing from July 24 to 26.
Paes got the endorsement of Cong. Ferjenel Biron of the 4th District.
As Liga federation president, Paes, 40, would be sitting as ex-officio member in the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.
Her two other candidates for Liga vice president (Neptali Salcedo Jr. of Sara) and auditor (Andres Bedro of Balasan) also do not have opponents.
On the other hand, the following are running for seats in the Liga Liga ng mga Barangay federation’s Board of Directors:

* Ferdinand Esmejerda of Igbaras
* Lyka Joy Deboque of Anilao
* Herman Mana-ay of New Lucena
* Edna Miane of Carles
* Lorenzo Puda of Pototan
* Sancho Navarro of Estancia
* Sebastian Salcedo of Alimodian
* Jerry Tuares of Tigbauan
Paes said she would work to have all barangay officials enrolled in PhilHealth.
She also envisions scholarships for children of barangay officials./PN
