Silay house yields P.5-million ‘shabu’

SILAY City, Negros Occidental – Suspected shabu worth about P510,000 was recovered at Villa Hergon Subdivision in Barangay Rizal.

The suspected illegal drugs weighing about 75 grams contained in 15 sachets were found in a house owned by 69-year-old Sammy Aguirre.

Joint elements of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Region 6, Silay City police station, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team, and the Regional Mobile Force Company searched Aguirre’s house on Saturday.

The house raid was conducted on the strength of a search warrant issued by Judge Ana Celeste-Bernad of the Regional Trial Court Branch 69 in Silay City.

Also recovered were cash amounting to P249,000, drug paraphernalia, a .45-caliber pistol with serial No. 237611, bullets, two handcuffs, and 12 cellphones, police said.

Aguirre and relative Alson Aguirre managed to evade arrest, but the authorities were able to catch three suspected drug personalities – Alma Aguirre, Rodilyn Santosidad and Bryan Serano – who were at the house.

Alma, Santosidad and Serano, detained at the Silay City police station lockup facility, were facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

Police were still searching for Aguirre and Alson as of this writing./PN
