BACOLOD City – A man driving a motorcycle did not survive after a van overran him in Barangay Camingawan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
The 32-year-old John Lloyd De La Cruz of Barangay Oringao, Kabankalan City sustained head and body injuries, police said.
He was pronounced “dead on arrival” at the Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City.
The incident happened on Monday, a police report showed.
Van driver Mario Maguad, 48, of Barangay Camungao, Kabankalan City was bound for Bais City, Negros Oriental at the time, police said.
Maguad was placed under the custody of the Kabankalan City police while investigation was ongoing.
Victorias City’s top drug suspect falls
He was listed as the No. 1 drug personality in the police station of Victorias City, Negros Occidental.
The 38-year-old resident Julius Sebug was caught in a drug buy-bust operation around 5:30 p.m. on Monday along De Leon Street in Barangay 2, Victorias City, a police report showed.
Sebug was arrested after he sold suspected shabu to an undercover officer for P200.
Recovered from his possession were three sachets of suspected shabu weighing about a gram with a market value of P3,000, cash amounting to P1,023, cellphones, and a sling bag, police said.
Sebug was detained at the Victorias City police station lockup facility.
He was facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Woman, 90, found dead
Her relatives found her lifeless inside her house along Rizal Street in Barangay 1, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, police said.
The 90-year-old Angustia Ramos is living alone in her house. She was found dead around 12 p.m. on Monday, a police report showed.
Ramos was last seen alive on July 27, according to relative Grace Gumabon.
The body was brought to a local funeral for a post-mortem examintation.
