ROXAS City – A village watchman turned over his loose firearm to the police in Mambusao, Capiz.
The man who the police did not identify surrendered his gun to patrolling officers of the Mambusao municipal police station in Barangay Bato-bato on Aug. 4.
The officers were having an information dissemination campaign at the time.
The barangay tanod turned over an improvised .38-caliber revolver bearing no bullets, police said.
Municipal police chief Senior Inspector Rachel Garnica said a total of 30 loose firearms have been surrendered to them since the Police Regional Office 6 launched “Oplan Tokhang Batok sa Gina Dumilian nga Pusil.”
Garnica said the intensified drive against loose guns appears to be “quite a success” in the town.
Another man also recently surrendered his improvised 12-gauge shotgun to the police in Maayon, Capiz, said the town’s chief of police Senior Inspector Valen Rommel de los Santos./PN
