ILOILO City – A 64-year-old farmer in Barangay Siwalo, Maasin, Iloilo shot his son and he wasn’t sorry for it.
He had enough of his son’s abusive and disrespectful behavior, explained Eduardo Miranda who surrendered to the Maasin police.
The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. Felimon Miranda, 37, died of gunshot wounds on the head and right shoulder.
From what the Maasin police so far gathered, Felimon pelted his parents’ house with stones and ignored his father’s plea to stop.
“Sige na ako ka bato kahapon. Kun-an ko nga uli run nga daan para indi ka dun ka tilaw, te indi gid mag untat. Te amo to gintiro ko eh (I told him to stop throwing stones at my house and just go home but he wouldn’t. So I shot him),” said Eduardo.
The father used a 12-gauge shotgun on his son, said Inspector Uswald Gatuslao, Maasin police chief.
“Abusador gid kung makainom (He was very troublesome, especially when drunk),” said Eduardo of his son. “He would challenge me to a fight.”
On Sunday the father had enough of his son’s rowdiness.
“He had no respect for me and his mother. I’m so fed up with him,” said Eduardo.
Felimon died instantly.
Felimon’s wife Nelia said she won’t be pressing charges against her father-in-law.
But she asked her in-laws to help her raise her children how that Felimon is dead.
Nelia confirmed her husband was not in good terms with his parents for quite some time.
“Waay ko paghinulsol. Indi ran magpasaway. Permi ran gapaugtas ka namon kag ka maoy kung hubog,” said Eduardo./PN
