ILOILO – All the eight municipal mayors in the 2nd District took their oath as members of the Nacionalista Party (NP) on Saturday night.
“Kinahanglan namon nga may pasilungan on the national level,” said Mayor Michael Gorriceta of the municipality of Pavia.
Aside from Gorriceta, Sen. Cynthia Villar – whose husband Manny is the NP president – administered the oath-taking of the following mayors in Cabatuan, Iloilo:
* Dennis Superficial of Santa Barbara
* Geefre Alonsabe of Alimodian
* Christian Sorongon of New Lucena
* John Tarrosa of Zarraga
* Marina Gorriceta of San Miguel
* Rolito Cahilig of Leon (represented by Vice Mayor Ma. Lina Holipas)
* Adolfo Jaen of Leganes (represented by Sangguniang Bayan member Leo Jun Jaen)
As NP members, Gorriceta added, they would be supporting the gubernatorial bid of NP member Cong. Ferjenel Biron.
Biron welcomed the entry of the eight 2nd District mayors to the NP.
“This is a milestone, very crucial, vital ini sa aton nga kampanya and handum for the governorship of Iloilo in 2019,” said Biron.
The congressman said he would continue recruiting local political leaders to the NP./PN
