BORACAY – Rehabilitation works for this island resort’s power system is only 20-percent complete, according to the Aklan Electric Cooperative (Akelco).
The province’s sole power distributor has been relocating power posts and lateral distribution lines as the island resort undergoes its half-year rehabilitation which began on April 26.
Akelco assistant general manager for engineering Joel Martinez said the relocation of the power facilities will shift into high gear this week.
But he stressed that the power system upgrade will go beyond the island’s Oct. 26 scheduled reopening.
The Department of Public Works and Highways is working on a road widening project in Boracay, covering the stretch from Cagban to Balabag.
The road project – which aims to address the traffic problem in Boracay – has affected private properties, mobile service providers, drainage systems, and telephone lines in the island. (With a report from Aklan Forum Journal/PN)
