Nearly 10,000 residents in La Paz and Mandurriao districts availed themselves of free city government services over the weekend (Aug. 18, 2018) through the Pag-ulikid sang Syudad, Pag-ulikid ni Mayor program.

ILOILO City – Over 9,000 residents in La Paz and Mandurriao districts availed themselves of free city government services over the weekend through the Pag-ulikid sang Syudad, Pag-ulikid ni Mayor program.

In La Paz, two waves of Pag-ulikid were conducted – in Barangay Railway and Barangay Jereos.

The Barangay Railway outreach also served residents of the following nearby villages: Luna, Magdalo, San Nicholas, McArthur, and Rizal.

Over 2,000 residents availed themselves of free medical checkup, tooth extraction, circumcision, and dog neutering.

An encounter with a senior citizen who, because of old age, could not personally go to city hall to secure an identification card prompted Mayor Jose Espinosa III to establish Pag-ulikid.

It is basically letting the people feel that the government is working for them, he said.

The Pag-ulikid in Barangay Jereos also accommodated residents from the villages of Burgos Mabini, Gustilo and Tabuc Suba.

Aside from free medical services, identification cards and wheelchairs were also issued to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.

Those having concerns with their birth certificates secured assistance from the staff of the city hall’s civil registry office while the youth sector were released with sports equipment.

Overall, the Barangay Jereos community outreach served over 2,500 people.

“The city government will find the best solutions to the problems our communities are facing. Together let’s make Iloilo City a better place to live in,” said Espinosa.

In Mandurriao district, two waves of Pag-ulikid were conducted on Saturday, too – in Barangay Bakhaw and PHHC Block 22.

Over 2,000 residents were served in Barangay Bakhaw.

At the event in PHHC Block 22, the number of beneficiaries reached over 3,000 including those from the nearby barangays of Sta. Rosa, Block 17 and Dungon C./PN
