BACOLOD City – Twenty-eight groups will compete in this year’s MassKara Festival street and arena dance competition.
Seventeen groups fall under the barangay category while 11 are under the school category.
The barangays that will participate in the dance competition are Mandalagan, Tangub, Alijis, Pahanocoy, Handumanan, Villamonte, 18, 40, 26, 39, 29, 38, 7, 12, 27, 8, and 41.
For the elementary school category, the participants are the Education and Training Center School II, Sum-ag Elementary School, ABKASA Elementary School, Montevista Elementary School, Patricia Homes Elementary School, A.L. Jayme Elementary School, and Crispino V. Ramos Elementary School.
Barangay Singcang-Airport National High School, Mandalagan National High School, Bacolod City National High School, and Mansilingan Agro National High School, meanwhile, will join the competition’s secondary school category.
The contest is slated on Oct. 27 for the school category and on Oct 28 for the barangay category.
These days are the highlights of the annual festival that celebrates the resiliency of Bacolodnons.
The Silver MassKara Festival Organization has already set a series of activities for the 21-day celebration beginning Oct. 8.
The festival’s main events will be held in three festival sites – the public plaza, Tourism Strip on Lacson Street and the Bacolod City Government Center ground.
Among the events already lined up are Grand Children’s Party; Nights of Mardi Gras; Tanda! Sing Na, Dance Pa; Magical MassKara; MassKara Drum Beating Contest; MassKara Fashion Show; MassKara Faces: The 1st MassKara Fantasy Make-up Competition; Sadya ang MassKara Fireworks Competition; and Electric MassKara./PN
