BACOLOD City – Some members of the local political group Magbinuligay Kita sa Kauswagan (MKK) might be joining Grupo Progreso (GP) in view of the 2019 midterm elections, according to Rep. Greg Gasataya.
The MKK and GP are rival groups – the former led by then mayor Monico Puentevella and the latter, by Mayor Evelio “Bing” Leonardia.
Gasataya said incumbent and former councilors are among those who are planning to transfer to GP.
But the city’s lone district representative refused to name them since “everything is not yet final.”
Gasataya said the GP will finalize its lineup before the filing of certificates of candidacy on Oct. 1 to 5.
He added that some politicians from other local political groups in the city also expressed interest in joining GP.
Meanwhile, the MKK plans to have a “unified opposition.”
Puentevella’s son Councilor Claudio Jesus told Panay News: “We are on talks with other groups but everything is not yet final.”/PN
