‘Cops’ promotion not just about bigger salaries’

ILOILO City – A total of 1,145 Police Commissioned Officers (PCOs) and Police Non-Commissioned Officers (PNCOs) across Western Visayas got promoted.

Family members of these police personnel were the ones who pinned the rank patches during a ceremony on Aug. 20 in Camp Delgado, the headquarters of  the Police Regional office 6 (PRO-6).
PRO-6’s Chief Directorial Staff, Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso, administered the oath of office.

He urged the newly prompted police personnel to be good community models.

A promotion was not only about the increase in salary; it came with additional responsibilities, Canieso stressed.

“They should be motivated to work harder because of their higher ranks,” said Canieso.

Of the 1,145 promoted police officers, 43 were PCOs and 1,102 were PNCOs.
According to PRO-6 spokesperson Superintendent Joem Malong, 563 cops with the rank of Police Officer 2 were promoted to Police Officer 3.

On the other hand, 301 cops with the rank of Senior Police Officer 1 were promoted to Senior Police Officer 2.
