Soldiers surrender over fatal shooting in Cadiz

BACOLOD City – Two soldiers surrendered to the police in relation to a fatal shooting incident in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental two years ago.

Private First Class Franklin Delamor, 29, of Leganes, Iloilo and Private First Class Pat Oriel Lopez, 27, of Kabanakalan City, Negros Occidental turned themselves in to Senior Police Officer 1 Dearlie Bilbar of the Cadiz City police station’s Warrant and Subpoena Section around 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

Delamor and Lopez – both members of the 62nd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army – face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

They surrendered before police officers could serve them an arrest warrant issued by Judge Reginald Fuentebella of the Regional Trial Court Branch 60 in Cadiz City.

Delamor and Lopez were then released from jail after they posted bail worth P30,000 each.

The soldiers were accused for killing two civilians and wounding three others in a fiesta in Barangay Banquerohan, Cadiz City on March 21, 2016./PN
