Passi grade school owner dies

Police look into ‘love triangle’ as motive in shooting

ILOILO City – The grade school owner and review center lecturer who was shot in the component city of Passi in Iloilo province died on Tuesday.

The 47-year-old Nicanor Labo of Barangay Aglalana, Passi City had undergone surgery at the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital in Molo district but did not survive, said Superintendent Arturo Fullera, Passi City police head.

Labo was peppered with bullets by a motorcycle-riding gunman in front of a drug store on Simeon Aguilar Street, Barangay Poblacion, Passi City at 9 p.m. last Friday.

He sustained gunshot wounds on the right leg, right stomach and right shoulder.

Police were looking into four suspects. The gunman was riding a motorcycle driven by an accomplice. The two others were believed lookouts.

Police were able to identify three of the four suspects via footage from a security camera of a nearby establishment, Fullera said.

They were not from Passi City, said the police officer.

Fullera refused to disclose the suspects’ names pending the filing of murder charges.

Moreover, Fullera said they were zeroing in on “love triangle” as motive after speaking with the victim’s cousin.

“We could not elaborate. We have yet to speak with the victim’s wife and children,” the police official said.

Fullera owns the Madison Grade School in Passi City and works as a lecturer in review and training centers in this city./PN
