LTFRB won’t be evicted in Bacolod, says Ramos

BACOLOD City – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board’s (LTFRB) satellite office along San Juan Street will not be closed, according to Councilor Dindo Ramos.

This was after he and Mayor Evelio Leonardia talked to LTFRB regional director Richard Osmeña yesterday.

Ramos, chairman of the Sangguniang Panlungsod committee on transportation, said they have to clarify that the city government did not order the LTFRB to vacate the office.

LTFRB officials have “presumed” that the city government wants to “evict” them after receiving information insinuating such from an individual whose identity Ramos did not disclose.

Ramos stressed that the city government has not issued an “official communication” that orders the eviction of the LTFRB in the city.

The LTFRB gets to stay in its current office while looking for a new one to accommodate the growing demands of its clients in Bacolod, the councilor added.

City Administrator John Orola said LTFRB’s current office is “small and congested,” preventing the agency to cater to a large crowd.

Earlier, members of transport groups in Negros Occidental opposed the supposed LTFRB eviction.

The eviction would mean that they have to travel to Iloilo City for their LTFRB transactions, thus incurring more expenses, the transport groups have said./PN
