Isabela gets new municipal police chief

BACOLOD City – Chief Inspector Lowell Garinganao is now the municipal police chief of Isabela, Negros Occidental.

Garinganao assumed the post on Wednesday, replacing Senior Inspector Randy Babor.

Garinganao’s new assignment and Babor’s relief were ordered by Negros Occidental police provincial director Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Castil Jr. in the wake of killings in the town.

Barangay Captain Rhoy Pagapang of Libas, Isabela was shot to death on Aug. 20 in Barangay Cabcab.

Former village chief Agapito Euroba of Barangay San Agustin was also gunned down on Aug. 10.

The Leonardo Panaligan Command of the New People’s Army admitted perpetrating the assassinations, accusing Pagapang and Euroba of being “military assets.”

While performing his duties as the new Isabela chief of police, Garinganao will remain as the commanding officer of the 2nd Mobile Force Company in Negros Occidental.

Several units of the 2nd Mobile Force Company – alongside units from the 12th and 94th infantry battalions of the Philippine Army – were deployed in Isabela to help in improving the peace and order situation of the town./PN
